A/A artists are specialists in sparking conversation, often with imaginative, surprising images. But recently two of our artists sat down with interviewers to share their work and inspirations.
In the May 18th issue of Spiegel magazine, Frank Herfort discussed photographing post-Soviet architecture for his new book, Imperial Pomp. Describing the impressively colorful and monumental buildings as "odd, but charming," Frank invites readers to experience a style of architecture with no shortage of ambition, or decorative elements. Buy the book in the A/A Boutique and check out more coverage, including a slide show featured on Spiegel Online.
For illustrator Uli Knörzer, his inspiration comes from "celebrating the beauty of transient moments in everyday life." In an interview just published by Kaltblut magazine, Uli discusses his nuanced use of color and shading to capture singular moments. Kaltblut showcases a selection of his highly personal portraits——complements to his fashion illustrations and work for major publications such as GQ and Die Zeit.
Whether their work is featured in print advertising, fine-art galleries, or magazines, artists at A/A share a single goal: exceed the ordinary and start the world talking.
