Last time we heard from photographer Anna Rose, she was in Bali soaking up sunshine, surfing, and preparing for her shoot for Neon magazine.
While searching for an ideal subject combining the issue’s themes of fashion and travel, it was Feri, a local surfguide, who caught Anna’s attention. For his portrait, Feri wore bright yellow HOM board shorts and Anna photographed him with surfboard in hand, overlooking a striking tidal vista in Canguu——perfect for the accompanying article about German tourists in different parts of the world.
According to Anna, there really were a lot of tourists——Germans, as well as people from every other nation. For that very reason she extended her travels beyond Bali to Lombok, a quieter island east of Bali. The resulting photos demonstrate that even with the very real pressures of tourism, there is still plenty to discover in the landscape’s undeniable natural beauty. You may just start dreaming of your own surfing getaway.
